The park requires at least a full day’s time commitment if you want to see everything there is to see. The best months to go are between April to August when the weather is pleasant. The year-end monsoon season sees a decline in visitors, but the weather is unpredictable.

What to see at the Golden Bridge?

Cau Vang, or the Golden Bridge, or the Golden Hand Bridge, is one of the top tourist destinations in Vietnam. Opened in June 2018, the aim was to create a tourist attraction that is unique to Da Nang – and I guess it worked as the iconic bridge receives millions of visitors from all over the world yearly!

The bridge is 150 meters long and located at an elevation of 1,414 meters above sea level, overlooking lush greenery. Its fully pedestrian 5-meter wide deck is paved by solid wood panels and gold-plated railings on each side. Two giant stone hands “support” the bridge, and if you’re a normal-height adult like me, you can definitely touch the fingers!

The bridge is usually very crowded with people admiring the views and taking tons of photos, and in my experience, you can actually lose the people you’re with if you’re not paying attention.

As I mentioned previously, the park is huge, and you could spend a whole day there exploring the various attractions. Some of the more popular attractions include:

Jardin D’Amour: A collection of 9 little gardens, each featuring different architectural styles.

Linh Ung Ba Pagoda: This is where you’ll find the Giant White Buddha Statue. Getting to the pagoda requires quite a walk, but the views were magnificent! You can see a panoramic view of the town on the hill, the neighbouring mountains, and also a peek at the sea!

TIP: We discovered this place by chance while looking for the friends we lost on the bridge, and by then, it was almost sunset. The evenings are cool, and mosquitoes are active, so dress appropriately.

PRO TIP: If it gets awfully crowded at the bridge, head over to the pagoda for some good photos!

Fantasy Park: The amusement park is inspired by two famous novels: ‘Journey to the Center of the Earth’ and ‘Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea’. Expect thrilling rides, scenic coasters and even 5D cinemas here.

TIP: We could see the mini mountain coaster from our cable car ride, and I was bummed that we had come too late to enjoy the rides. The rides looked exciting for a rollercoaster junkie like me, so do check them out!

Museum of Wax Figures: Your standard human-like wax figure museum featuring various celebrities. There are extra costs for the entrance tickets, so we skipped this experience.

European-style village

French Village: For our European travellers, the French Village may seem tacky and kitschy. Yet for many regional tourists, the French Village will feel like a window to another world.

My thoughts on the Golden Bridge in Vietnam

We were fortunate to have the opportunity to see the Golden Bridge in Vietnam during our brief layover in Da Nang. While it may not be budget-friendly for some, we organised a taxi for 6 through our hotel and got there without a hitch. We got to the foot of Ba Na Hills slightly after 3 pm and didn’t need to wait too long for the tickets. We rode the scenic cable car to the Golden Bridge and took many, many photos.

However, some time between admiring the gorgeous views and taking photos, a friend and I were separated from the other 4 girls we travelled with. I was the only one with an active mobile connection. We spent the rest of the evening looking for them and stumbling upon the various attractions at the same time. Thankfully, the others were resourceful and managed to get back to the hotel eventually.

One of my biggest regrets is not coming earlier. If we’d come to Ba Na Hills earlier in the day, more attractions would be open, and we could enjoy the amusement park that’s included in our entrance fee. Maybe it was an off-peak season when we came; many of the attractions were closed. We had dinner at one of the buffet restaurants, and the food quality was just okay. Depending on the seasonal offers, you might get some vouchers to enjoy a discount at some restaurants there.

Was the Golden Bridge in Vietnam worth it? – Yes, and no.

Yes, because the Golden Bridge was a sight to behold, and I’d recommend visiting at least once when you’re in Da Nang or Hoi An.

No, because the ticket is rather pricey, and some attractions weren’t open while we were there. The French Village was almost a dead town in the evening, and the food at the buffet restaurant we had could be better. It was great for the all-you-can-drink, though!
